RICHARD EDWARD DRASCHIL, 84, 1941-2025

Born in 1941 in Owendale, Michigan. Son of the late Frank and Mary Draschil of Valparaiso, IN. Preceded in death by sister Evelyn Niemeyer of Bloomington IN. Survived by his wife of 60 years Sheryl (Nelson) Draschil, sons Timothy (Vicky) Draschil of Valparaiso, IN, Scott Draschil of Indianapolis, IN, grandchildren Madeline Draschil of Valparaiso and Drew Draschil of Indianapolis, IN, brother George (Pamela) Draschil of Valparaiso IN, sister-in-law Rebecca (Nelson) Mathis of Portland, OR and brother-in-law Neal Nelson of East Dundee, IL. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

Graduate of Hobart High School Class of 1959. Married Sheryl Nelson, Hobart High School Class of 1961 on August 7th, 1965. Alumni of Purdue University, BS in Construction Management and Architectural Engineering and attended Indiana State Graduate School. Resided in Hobart, IN and Vestavia Hills, AL, moving to Chesterton, IN in 1978. Served on Chesterton Utility Board for 10 years and five years on the Chesterton TriTown Board. Member of Hobart Lions Club, Pirates of Trade Winds and Chesterton Moose. He began his career in 1965 with J. M. Foster of Gary, IN as an estimator/engineer and construction manager. Joined Superior Construction Co of Gary, IN in 1985 as Construction Project Manager. Rich enjoyed spending time with his sons, grandchildren, deep sea fishing, classic cars and being a Florida snowbird.

The passing of Richard Edward Draschil of Valparaiso, Indiana leaves a void in the hearts of many, as we bid farewell to a loving soul who departed on December 30, 2025. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

As Richard departs from this earthly realm, his essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Richard may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Richard leaves behind.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Draschil and Mary Draschil of Valparaiso, IN.; and his sister Evelyn Niemeyer of Bloomington, IN.. He is survived by: his wife Sheryl Draschil (Nelson); his sons, Timothy Draschil (Vicky) of Valparaiso, IN and Scott Draschil of Indianapolis, IN; his grandchildren, Madeline Draschil of Valparaiso and Drew Draschil of Indianapolis, IN; his brother George Draschil (Pamela) of Valparaiso, IN; and his siblings-in-law, Rebecca Mathis (Nelson) of Portland, OR and Neal Nelson of East Dundee, IL.. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
