Gilda Joy Rohde, 79, of Marshall, IL passed away 5:05 AM Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019 in the Gibson Family Center For Hospice Care at Terre Haute, IN. She was formerly employed by the Portage Twp. School District at Portage, IN. Joy was born July 8, 1940 at Mulkeytown, IL, the daughter of Stanley and Lillie Wilson Teffertiller. She married Robert Eugene Rohde Sr. on Feb. 25, 1960 at Hobart, IN and he preceded her in death on June 27, 1988. She was also preceded in death by one grandchild. Surviving are her children, Robert Eugene (Shelly) Rohde Jr. of Marshall, IL, Gayle Johnson of TN, Glenda (Ed) Sanders of Martinsville, IL and Paula Rohde of Marshall, IL; her mother, Lillie Sapino of Martinsville, IL; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and two siblings, Wanda Sue Darr of West City , IL and Stanley Wayne Teffertiller of Du Quoin, IL. She had attended the Nazarene Church. She was also a member of the Marshall Homemakers Club and the Red Hat Society. She volunteered for many years with the Salvation Army and had also sent packages to the Mercy Ships for several years. Services in honor of her life will be 2:00 PM Thursday at Pearce Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Auburn Cemetery. Visitation will be 12 Noon until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
