In Memory

Terrence (Terry) Luedtke - Class Of 1972

OBITUARY FROM BURNS FUNERAL HOME WEBSITE:

Terry, age 70, was a lifelong resident of Hobart, Indiana. He graduated from Hobart High School in 1972 and later pursued studies in autobody and painting in Kansas City, Kansas. Once training was complete Terry returned to Hobart, where he began employment at Lennertz Oldsmobile as a painter's apprentice and worked his way up to the bodyshop manager. After health struggles, Terry moved to Sam’s Tech as an office manager until his health conditions no longer allowed him to work.

Friday nights were a special time for Terry, as he could often be found in the end zone of the Brickie Bowl, cheering on the Hobart Brickies. His weekends were dedicated to watching Notre Dame and Chicago Bears football or cheering on his favorite NASCAR driver, Dale Earnhardt. Terry’s interests extended beyond sports; he loved fishing, woodworking, painting, and drawing. He particularly cherished fishing trips with his father and brothers, where the memories created were as important as the catch itself.

Terry was preceded in death by his father, Charles Luedtke; his brother, Tom Luedtke; his Uncle, Les Luedtke; his Aunt, Janet Luedtke and his beloved fur babies Crystal, Ginger, and Babe. Survived by his loving wife Jean (Erwin) Luedtke, of 49 years; daughters Danielle (James) Coleman and Allison Luedtke; grandchildren Maggie, Olivia, and Grant Coleman; mother Joan (Charles) Luedtke; siblings Debbie (Tom) Luedtke, Dick Luedtke, Jim (Amy) Luedtke, and Laura (Dave) Bull; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. Terry’s unconditional love will be missed by the family dogs Cooper, Missy and Fiona.

Throughout his 70 years, Terry faced many health challenges, but he was never alone in his journey. He was surrounded by the care and kindness of compassionate doctors and nurses. His family is deeply grateful to their extended family, friends, and the exceptional staff at St. Mary’s Medical Center, particularly the nurses and staff on floors 2 West and 5 West. A heartfelt thank you also goes to Transitions Hospice and Tanya’s Helping Home, whose staff treated Terry and his family with the love and compassion of their own.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 from 4-8 PM at Burns Funeral Home in Hobart, Indiana (701 E 7th Street Hobart, Indiana 46342). Terry will be cremated, and the family is honoring Terry’s wishes that no funeral service be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hobart Humane Society or Tanya’s Helping Home https://tanyashelpinghomellc.godaddysites.com/.
