David (Dave) Plankey - Class Of 1981

POST-TRIBUNE, OCTOBER 11, 2003:

DAVID M. PLANKEY Age 40, of Indianapolis, formerly of Lebanon and Hobart, passed away suddenly Wednesday, October 8, 2003. Mr. Plankey was born in Gary on June 21, 1963, the son of Catherine A. (Matthews) Plankey of Michigan City and the late Ronald J. Plankey. He was reared and educated in Gary and Hobart. He was a graduate of Hobart High School, Class of 1981. He attended Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana and received a B.S. degree in business in 1985. While in college, he was enrolled in the Army R.O.T.C. Program. He served in the U.S. Army as a Captain from 1981-1986. After college graduation, he resided in Bloomington until he was assigned to active duty in the U.S. Army in Germany. He lived in Germany for 3 years and returned to live in the Whitestown area following discharge in 1986. He farmed with his father-in-law William L. Myers for seven years. The past several years he has worked as a Retail Manager for Menard's Inc. at the Indianapolis Gateway Drive location. Mr. Plankey was a member of the Catholic Church and the American Legion in Indianapolis. He enjoyed his family and sports including basketball, baseball, football and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Harriet A. Plankey of Indianapolis; mother, Catherine A. Plankey of Michigan City; former wife, Shari (Rick) Pryor of Whitestown, IN; children, Sara D. Plankey and James D. Plankey both of Whitestown; sister, Karen (Brad) Gibson of Michigan City; brothers, James R. (Catherine) Plankey of Mattoon, IL, Ronald C. Plankey of Michigan City. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Plankey in 1978

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2003 at the Myers Chapel of Memories 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon, IN with Pastor Roy Reeder officiating. Friends may meet with the family at Myers Chapel in Lebanon on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. (time of service). Local funeral services for David will be held on Monday, October 13, 2003 at 9:30 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home (Hobart) corner of Rt. 51 & 7th Street, going to St. Bridget Church in Hobart for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m., Rev. Dominic V. Bertino officiating. Interment Calvary Cemetery in Portage. Memorials may be made to David Plankey Children's Memorial Fund c/o the State Bank of Liston, 1801 Indianapolis Avenue, Lebanon, IN 46052.
