OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, JANUARY 12, 2009:

Michael A. "Mike" Szwajkowski, age 45, of Hobart, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2009 at the Horton VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso. Mike was a lifelong Hobart resident and graduate of Hobart High School in 1980. He was formerly employed as a welder. Mike was an avid hunter & fisherman, who loved gardening and lawn care.

Mike is survived by his loving mother, Mary Szwajkowski of Hobart; he was a devoted and loving father to his twin-sons, Brandon & Nathan Szwajkowski of Chesterton, and their mother, Lori Alexander; 2 brothers, Tim (Pat) Szwajkowski of Burns Harbor, Bob "Buzz" (Joyce) Szwajkowski of Hobart; nieces & nephews; and many devoted friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Szwajkowski, and his grandparents, Clemens & Jean Sawa and Walter & Stella Szwajkowski

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Michael's honor may be made to the family. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 14, 2009 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart, with Rev. Lourdu Pasala officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
