OBITUARY FROM REES FUNERAL HOME WEBSITE:

On January 1st, 2025, Lisa passed unexpectedly.  She was born to Lenard and Mozelle Pope in Gary, IN on March 28th,1960. She was a part of the 1978 graduating class of Hobart High School. In 1982 she was blessed with her daughter Heather. On August 15th, 1992, she married her husband Paul Duda and together they had their daughter Ashley the following March.   

Lisa spent most of her adult life working at Sapper’s Market and Greenhouse.  Most recently she was delivering flowers part-time for Kellen’s Florist. She never met a stranger and loved talking with everyone she met. She was an avid fisherwoman and enjoyed being on the lake with her brothers. In 2023 Lisa became a grandma and she was so excited to watch her granddaughters grow.  She loved her family more than anything and truly cherished her time with them.  

Lisa is preceded in death by her mother, Rosa Mozelle Pope (Cowart), her father Lenard Coy Pope.  She is survived by her husband, Paul Duda, daughter, Heather Elkins, daughter, Ashley (Patrick)Gilson, granddaughter Meyer Gilson, her brothers Mark (Kathy) Pope, James (Nancy) Pope and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.   

Memorial Visitation for Lisa will be Monday January 6, 2025, at Rees Funeral Home from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. A Memorial Service will follow at 5:00 pm with Deacon Mark Pope officiating at the Funeral Home.

An additional Celebration of Lisa’s Life will be held at a future date.
