Daniel (Dan) Silich - Class Of 1978

Daniel Gerard Silich, Sr., 64, of Hobart, IN passed away peacefully on September 4, 2024. Dan was a 1978 graduate of Hobart High School. He was a proud member of Sons of American Legion and the Eagles FOP. In June of 2021, he retired from US Steel as a Millwright after serving 30 years. Dan was a lifelong Hobart resident and most commonly known as Farmer Dan or Corn Man Dan. He was an active member in the community selling his sweet corn every summer, snow plowing in the winter, and winning cardboard boat races. There is nothing he wouldn't do to help a neighbor or a friend. Dan's one-of-a-kind personality and his loving, fun nature will be truly missed by all that loved him.

Dan is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Cyndy Merry-Silich, his oldest son Danny Silich Jr. of Michigan, his little girl Jennifer Silich of Dearborn Heights, MI, his youngest son and sidekick Adam Silich of Hobart, IN, grandchildren: Madison, Lily, AJ, Elwood, and Reggie, and siblings: Thomas Silich, Cheryl Silich-Stafford (Don), Mark Silich, and Kathy Novack (Ted).

Dan is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Emily Silich, wife Sandra Silich, and sister Diane Silich.

There will be a visitation for Dan on Tuesday, September 10, 2024  from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Homes, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd. There will be a funeral service on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hobart Cemetery.
