OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, FEBRUARY 20, 2011:

Betz, Bernard F. "Bernie", Jr. age 72, of Hobart, passed away Friday, February 18, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Chicago and later moved to Northwest Indiana, where he graduated from Hobart High School in 1955.

Bernard is survived by his son, Anthony (Estelle) Betz of Knox; daughters, Becky (Carl) Johnson of Corona, CA, Connie (James) Wright of DeMotte, Annette Betz of Hobart and Jennifer (Tony Tokarz) Betz, of Lake Station; 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; sister, Barbara Allen; special loving companion, Agnes Pitzarell of Hobart and her children, Denise (Mickey) Vode and Pam Kovacevic; many nieces, nephews and loving family and friends. Bernard was preceded in death by his children, Deborah and Vincent Betz; parents, Antionette and Bernard F. Betz, Sr. and granddaughter, Laura Johnson.

Memorials are preferred to VNA Hospice, 2401 Valley Drive, Valparaiso, IN 46383. A visitation and funeral service for Bernard will be Monday, February 21, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart with the visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. and concluding with the funeral service at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Andrew Corona officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral service.
