OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, MARCH 12, 2007:
Helen May Hill, age 69, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2007. She was born on March 2, 1938 in New Chicago, Indiana, the daughter of Joseph and Stella (Broda) Viator. Helen was a 1955 graduate of Hobart High School. She was a hairdresser and formerly owned and operated Helen's Touch of Glamour. She married William R. Hill on June 4, 1955 in New Chicago and they have celebrated 52 years of marriage. Helen is a member of Assumption Catholic Church, a former member of the New Chicago Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and was a den mother with the Cub Scouts. Helen enjoyed being with family, reading, sewing and working puzzles.
Helen is survived by her loving family: husband: William R. Hill, Sr., of Hobart; sons: William R. (Betty) Hill, Jr., Hobart, David A. (Janice) Hill, Portage, and Daniel J. (Paulette) Hill, Hobart; grandchildren: William Hill, III, Joshua Hill, Jeremy Hill, Bradley Hill, Chloe Hill, Tiffany Hill, Brittany Hill, Stephany Hill, Courtany Hill, and Danielle Hill; special nephew: Gregory (Kathleen) Viator, Hobart; great nephews: Gregory Viator, Jr., Mathew Viator, and Stephen Viator; special friend, Joanie Wojcik, Hobart; and other loving family and dear friends. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, brother Joseph Viator, Jr., and her sister, Josephine Smelko.
Visitation for Helen will be held from 2-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with a prayer vigil at 4 p.m. Prayers will be offered at 9:30 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home on Thursday, March 15, 2007 with a mass being offered at 10 a.m. at Assumption BVM Catholic Church, 3530 Illinois Street, Hobart, with Father Jon Plavcan, officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Portage. Memorials in Helen's memory may be made to the Hill Family.
