Bert Huff - Class Of 1946

OBITUARY FROM THE NW INDIANA TIMES, FEBRUARY 15, 2011:

Bert Huff, age 82, of Hobart, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011 in Knoxville, TN. Bert was a lifetime Hobart resident and a graduate of Hobart High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Bert was employed at the U.S. Post Office as a postal supervisor. He was a member of the Hobart VFW Post #5365, Hobart American Legion Post #54, Masonic Dunes Lodge #741, and the Hobart Moose Lodge, #783. Bert enjoyed bowling at Ray's Lanes with the Senior League and the VFW Bowling Team at Hobart Lanes. Bert loved to garden, fish, travel and hunt. He will be dearly missed.

Bert is survived by his wife, Harriet; children: Peter, James and John Huff all of Hobart, Kathleen Huff of Harbor Springs, MI; stepchildren: Harry (Carole) Vallangeon of Chesterton, Gary (Gail) Vallangeon of Valparaiso, Guy (Karen) Vallangeon of Chesterton, David Vallangeon of Chesterton and Wynne (Scott) Ton of Porter; 22 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Bert and Irene Huff; wife, Margaret; brother, Ronald Huff; sisters: Marjorie Surdez and Marie Davis.

Memorial donations are preferred to Hobart Food Pantry or the Hobart Humane Society. A memorial service for Bert will be Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Tim Reyna officiating. There will be a joint VFW and American Legion service immediately following funeral service. A memorial visitation will also be Thursday, February 17, 2011 from 2:00- 5:00 p.m. with a Masonic service at 4:00 p.m. Rees Funeral Home handling arrangements, (219) 942-2109 or online at www.reesfuneralhomes.com.
