Ben spent his early years in Prinston, IN. His father was a coal miner. In 1951 his family moved to Black Oak, IN, where his father went to work at Inland Steel. In 1955, they moved to Hobart. Benjamin attended Hobart High School. He played football for the Hobart Brickies. He still, to this day, holds the record for the longest shot put. At age 18, Ben went to work at Inland Steel. In 1973, he and his family moved to Michigan City and he went to work at Joy Mfg. until they closed. Ben then worked at ISP and was a machinist for KTR Corp. He received many awards. He also had worked at Gladwin Industries for several years. Ben loved to golf, hunt, fish, cook, and he loved stock cars. He liked to work and cars and he loved to go camping with his family. One of his fondest memories was going to Wyoming to deer hunt with his friends. The other was going to Canada on a fishing trip to camp on an island for a week. He was a big Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved Harleys. He also enjoyed canning large quantities of vegetables that he shared with all of his family. Ben will be deeply missed for his forever unconditional love and support he gave to his family and friends. He accepted the Lord at an early age and renewed his acceptance in 1975. He truly believed in the Lord. There was never a day gone by when our family didn't have circle prayers. Memorials may be made to the family.
