Charles (Charlie) Hartman - Class Of 1957

OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, FEBRUARY 14, 2006:

CHARLES W. HARTMAN "Charlie" Portage, Indiana Age 68, passed away Friday, February 10, 2006 at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart. Charlie was a Portage resident for 40 years and formerly of Hobart. He was a graduate of Hobart High School, Class of 1957 and a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Hartman was a retired motor inspector with U.S. Steel after 29 years of service and then retired from Industrial Steel (ISC) after 16 years of service. Charlie was a longtime member of Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church where he was an active and loyal volunteer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Rosie (nee Wade) Hartman; 2 sisters: Elizabeth (Joseph) Shay of Knox, IN, Helen (Mark) Paul of NV; and brothers-in-law: James (Marilyn) Wade of Hobart, Austin (Cathy) Wade of CA; sister-in-law: Ruth (Roger) Anderson of AR; very special great nephew: Joseph "Little Boss" Knight; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, William and Elizabeth Hartman, brother, Willie Hartman, father and mother-in-law, Michael and Josephine Wade, sisters-in-law, Anna Miracle, Frances Willy, Betty DeWar and Janet Knight.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 14, 2006, 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial directly at Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church, located at 2949 Willowcreek Rd., Portage, with Rev. Walter Rakoczy celebrating the Mass. There will be visitation at church Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until Mass begins at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN. Visitation is Monday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. by Deacon Richard Huber at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage.
