OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, JUNE 24, 2003:

RICHARD M. RODRIGUEZ Age 63 years, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2003 at the Portage Community Hospital, Portage, Indiana. Mr. Rodriguez returned here one month ago from Fairview Heights, IL where he moved 10 years ago from Northwest Indiana. He was a 30 year employee of U.S. Steel. After his retirement from U.S. Steel, Mr. Rodriguez also worked in the maintenance department for J.C. Penney in Fairview Heights, IL. A graduate of Hobart High School Class of 1957 and was a member of the Ballroom Dancing Club in Illinois. He was also a former member of the Bricklayers Union. Mr. Rodriguez's hobbies included drawing and dancing. He was born in Taylor Springs, Illinois on September 21, 1939 to the late Concepcion Rodriguez and Belen Sanchez.

He is survived by his daughter, Margaret (Steven) Bryant of Valparaiso, IN; brother, Louis (Linda) Rodriguez of Portage, IN; sister, Carmen (Bill) Hanna of Hobart; dear friend, Rita Rivera of Portage, IN; grand dog daughter, Lucy.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2003 at 7 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, Indiana with Rev. Father Walter Rakoczy officiating. Cremation after service at the Heritage Crematory, Portage, Indiana. The visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2003 from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Porter County Cancer Society, 1009 N. Calumet, Valparaiso, IN 46383.
