Jean Alice Mathe, age 87 of Nashville, Tennessee, formerly of Chesterton, passed away on October 23, 2011 in Nashville.
She was born in Hobart on January 25, 1924 to Walter and Alice Fiester, both of whom preceded her in death.
On September 14, 1957, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Chesterton, she married William "Bill" Mathe, who also preceded her in death.
Surviving is her son, Christopher A. Mathe, of Nashville, Tenn. and her great-nephew Tim Bennett of Tenn.
Also preceding her in death were her brother Carl (Helen) Fiester and her niece Carel Bennett.
Jean was retired from the Chesterton Tribune with 15 years of service.
She was a graduate of Hobart High School and was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Chesterton, as well as the Donelson Christian Church of Nashville, Tenn.
Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.

Jean Alice Mathe, age 87, of Nashville, TN, formerly of Chesterton, passed away October 23, 2011 in Nashville. She was born in Hobart on January 25, 1924 to Walter and Alice Fiester, both of whom precede her in death. On September 14, 1957, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Chesterton, she married William "Bill" Mathe, who also preceded her in death.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 27, 2011 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton, IN. The funeral service will be on Friday, October 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Katie Lindberg officiating. The burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.
