OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, JANUARY 24, 2010:

Carolyn Lowe age 70, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2010 surrounded by her loving family at the Legacy Assisted Living in Lafayette, Colorado.

She is survived by her son, Raymond Lowe, daughter Karen (Gregg) Tobo and granddaughter Elphey Israel, all of Lafayette, Colorado; granddaughter Kara Lynn Will of Michigan City, Indiana; brother, Fred (Virginia) Groomer of North Judson, Indiana; sisters, Peggy (Terry) Jarosak of Portage, Indiana and Patty Linkinhoker of San Antonio, Texas; sister-in-law Joyce Wingo of Flatonia, Texas; and many nieces, nephews and special friends. Preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Lowe; parents, Gene and LaVera; and her brother, Bill Groomer.

Carolyn was born April 14, 1939 in Vincennes, Indiana, the daughter of Norris Eugene and Alma LaVera (Daily) Groomer. She married James Lowe in 1961. She was a 1957 graduate of Hobart High School, and lived in Hobart until 2003. She later resided in Orleans, Indiana, where she was a member of Mitchell Wesleyan Church. She was a warm-hearted, loving homemaker who enjoyed sewing, Bible study and volunteering with the elderly.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, 7535 Taft Street, Merrillville, Indiana with Rev. Karen Altergott officiating. Friends are invited to meet with the family at the funeral chapel on Tuesday, from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Interment at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, Indiana.
