OBITUARY FROM AUBURN CITIZEN, JULY 8, 2006:

Mabel L. Herr, 91, of the Mercy Health & Rehabilitation Center in Auburn, died Thursday, June 29, 2006. Mabel was born in Lee, Ind., on Sept. 15, 1914. She was the daughter of Gifford L. and Edna Lefler Marrs. Mabel was a graduate of Hobart High School, and on Sept. 16, 1934, married her late husband, Lawrence "Jack" Herr, who passed away in 1990. She had resided most of her life in Indiana, and prior to moving to Auburn in 1999, had lived in Monticello, Ind. Mabel loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed traveling, including trips to Alaska, Hawaii, Europe and Costa Rica. She had been a member of the Twin Lakes Senior Citizen Club, The Osborne Cemetery Committee and the Card Club.

Mabel is survived by her son, Larry and his wife, Sheila Lewis-Herr, of Auburn; a brother, Donald L. Marrs of North Carolina; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Wells, Rebecca Bristel, Anthony Gorsich and Kevin Harris, all of Fort Myers, Fla., Clifton Paro and Betsy Lewis, both of Auburn. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, and leaves behind several closed friends in Indiana. In addition to her husband, Jack, Mabel was predeceased by her daughter, Dolores in 1989; and her grandson, Tim Harris, both of Florida.

There will be no public services held for Mabel. Interment will be in Osborne Cemetery, Jasper County, Ind.
