Nicholas Lazar - Class Of 1941

OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES, SEPTEMBER 25, 2009:

Nicholas Lazar, age 85, of Calumet Township, passed away peacefully at Munster Community Hospital, with his family by his side, Wednesday, September 23, 2009. Nicholas was born December 3, 1923 to John and Mary Lazar of Hobart, IN.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, John (Betty) Lazar; and sisters: Helen (Manuel) Turner and Virginia (Lefty) Frum. Nicholas is survived by brothers: Eli (Mary) Lazar, Dan Lazar and Steve (Margaret) Lazar; sisters: Mary (Bob) Hart, Minerva (Dave) Williams and Victoria (Bud) Mathis; numerous nieces and nephews.

Nicholas was previously a resident of Fullerton, CA and had resided with his sister, Minerva Williams, for the past three years. Nicholas was a Hobart High School graduate of 1941 and a decorated US Army Veteran of WWII. He was retired from McDonald-Douglas in California.

Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2009 with funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. at the Ridgelawn Funeral Home, 4201 West Ridge Road, Gary, IN 46408, (219) 980-5555. Burial will be at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Gary, IN. Nicholas was a quiet man of few words with a comical sense of humor. His gentleness will be deeply missed. God Grant His Eternal Rest.
