OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, SEPTEMBER 30, 2008:
Shirley A. Popp, age 78, passed away Monday, September 29, 2008 with her children by her side. Born on December 25, 1929, she was a student of Froebel School, moving to Hobart for high school. She was a loving mother and devoted wife, having celebrated 60 years of marriage to Louis Popp on July 3, 2008. Shirley loved all types of crafts, woodworking, gardening, fishing and being outdoors.
She is survived by her husband, Louis Popp; 4 daughters, Lori (Bill) O'Malley of NV, Helen (Monte) Blane of Hobart, Lene (Gary) Behrens of Porter, and Laine Kasarda of Valparaiso; 2 sons, Louis (Faye) Popp Jr. of Chesterton and Lance (April) Popp of Hobart; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father Paul Kasarda, and mother, Helen Kasarda (nee Sum), and daughter, Patricia Zieseniss.
Funeral services will be Thursday, October 2, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Kraft Funeral Services, 370 N. County Line Rd., Hobart. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kraft Funeral Services. 219-942-9866.
