OBITUARY FROM NW TIMES, MARCH 13, 2008:
Robert J. Rosenbaum, age 80, of Valparaiso, IN, passed away peacefully March 11, 2008 surrounded by his loving family at the VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso, IN. Bob was a lifelong resident of Hobart, and a recent resident of Valparaiso. Born in Hobart, IN on June 27, 1927, Bob was a 1945 graduate of Hobart High School. He was a WWII Navy veteran and a member of American Legion Post #454. Bob did everything for his family and lent a helping hand to all who were in need.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary; four children: Pam (Bill) Hindle of Valparaiso, Bob (Joyce) Rosenbaum of Valparaiso, John (Mary) Rosenbaum Hobart and Julie (Larry) Draves of Valparaiso; 13 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Donna (Bernard) Logan; and countless loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his mother, Viola; father, Ewald; stepmother, Lillian Rosenbaum; grandson, Brandon Rosenbaum; great-grandson, Bradley Rosenbaum; as well as his beloved dog and faithful companion, "Bixbea". Bob worked in construction for many years out of Local #1005 and was also a self-employed contractor. He enjoyed all sports and was an avid golfer and bowler. Bob was a member of the Vale Church of Christ in Valparaiso.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Dykes Funeral Home, 2305 N. Campbell Street, Valparaiso, IN with Don Cleek and Mark Russell officiating. Burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Valparaiso. Visitation will be held Friday, March 14, 2008 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Dykes Funeral Home. Bob will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to VNA Hospice Center, 501 Marquette Street, Valparaiso, IN or to the Leukemia Society of America, Indiana Chapter, 921 E. 86th Street, Suite 205, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
