JANICE I. SCHMELTER (nee Hamann) Age 76 years, of Lakes of the Four Seasons, passed away Friday, October 22, 2004, at her home.

She is survived by her husband, Edward of 56 years; 2 daughters, Kathye (Steve) Begala of Traverse City, MI, Amye (Tim) Jensen of Wheatfield, IN: 8 grandchildren: Molly Begala of Chicago, IL, Jill (Jon) Cole of Stevenson, WA, Tony Begala of Chicago, IL, Ed Begala of Schererville, IN, Billy Boege of North Hollywood, CA, Weston Boege of Lafayette, IN, Blake Boege of Detroit, MI, Brooke Boege of DeMotte, IN. Preceded in death by parents, Art & Mildred Hamann.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 26, 2004, 10:00 a.m. at Geisen Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Crown Point, Fr. Pat Kalich, officiating. Burial at Hobart Cemetery. Friends may call at the Geisen Funeral Home, 109 N. East St., Crown Point on Monday, October 25, 2004 from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Mrs. Schmelter was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Women's Sodality in Crown Point, a member of Psi Iota XI Sorority and graduated from Hobart High School in 1946. Janice was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her family and doing arts and crafts. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Anthony Hospice or St. Mary Catholic Church.
