Ralph Spoor - Class Of 1943

OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, FEBRUARY 20, 2009:

Ralph E. Spoor, age 83 years, of Lafayette, Indiana, passed away at 11:50 A.M. on Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at Clarian Arnett Hospital. He was born June 1, 1925, in Gary, Indiana to Liland Palmateer Spoor of Anderson and the late Leonard Spoor. He served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946, and after the war spent 14 years in the Naval Reserve as an electronics tech. He graduated from Hobart High School and attended Purdue University for two years, studying electrical engineering. On June 5, 1948, he married Norma C. Morgan in Hobart, Indiana and she preceded him in death on October 1, 2004. Mr. Spoor retired in 1985 after 25 years at State Farm Insurance as a claims superintendent. He was a member of Stidham United Methodist Church. Golfing was his "second home."

Surviving with his mother, are three daughters, Brenda Lee Page (husband: Steve) of Covington, Indiana, Karen S. Vester (husband: Robert) of West Point, Indiana and Kathy J. Moore (husband: Richard) of Lafayette, Indiana; and two sisters, Lila M. Seelan of Anderson, Indiana and Donna J. Anduskey (husband: Andrew) of Valparaiso, Indiana. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Wendy, Stephen, Brent, Emily, Kurtis and Kristine; and 3 great-grandchildren, Bethany, Helana and Camille.

Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the 2:30 P.M. service on Friday, February 20, 2009, at the Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, Indiana 47909 with the Rev. David Inskeep officiating. Interment at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Those wishing may contribute to the American Lung Association and/or the Stidham United Methodist Church.
