Kenneth Paul Tomak - Class Of 1957

OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES, SEPTEMBER 17, 2008:

Kenneth Paul Tomak, age 69, a longtime resident of Portage, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2008. Ken was born on September 22, 1938 in Tolleston, Indiana the son of Joseph and Margaret Tomak. He was a 1957 graduate of Hobart High School and then he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. Ken was married to Carolyn Viau on September 26, 1959 in Glen Park. He worked as a journeyman electrician for United States Steel for over 34 years. He was a member of the Union Local 1066. Ken enjoyed trapshooting and was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. He loved archery and was a member of the Deep River Bowmen. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all.

Ken is survived by his loving family; his wife of 48 years, Carolyn Tomak of Portage; sons: Randy (Pamela) Tomak of Portage and Kenneth J. Tomak of Valparaiso; granddaughter, Holly Tomak; grandson, Kenny Tomak; great-grandchildren: Zachary Tomak, Tristan Tomak and Ethan English; brother, Joseph Tomak of Tuscon, AZ; and other loving family and dear friends.

A memorial visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at Rees Funeral Home – Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage. A memorial funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2008 at Rees Funeral Home.
