OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES, JULY 7, 1999:

Dean Edward Hughes, 19, of Valparaiso, formerly of Hobart, passed away on Sunday, July 4, 1999. Dean had been a Hobart resident most of his life. He was a member of Hobart High School, class of 1998 and was an employee of Roma's Pizza.

He is survived by his parents, Ronald (Terri) Hughes of Valparaiso and Cynthia Hughes of LaPorte; one brother, Kevin Hughes; grandparents, Cora R. Hughes of Hobart and Helen Baker of Valparaiso; girl friend, Sandy Rivera of Franklin Park, IL; two step-sisters, Christine Ellis and Jennifer Ellis; one step-brother, Joseph Ellis, III, all of Valparaiso; one nephew, Dillon Ellis; several aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends including Carl Wegment and Will Flores. Dean was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles Baker and Paul J. Hughes and his best friend, Jason Durbin.

Funeral services are Thursday, July 8, 1999 at 1 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Ridge Road, Hobart. Burial at Calumet Park Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Rees Funeral Home, Hobart.
