OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES, SEPTEMBER 9, 2012:

Jim Hood, 73 of Valparaiso, passed away Friday, September 7, 2012 at the VNA Hospice Center. He was born September 18, 1938 in Kokomo, IN to Byron and Eloise (Sadler) Hood and graduated from Hobart High School in 1957. He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Union Local #20 in Portage for 53 years serving with Hunter Corporation for 26 of those years. Jim was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Hebron and Porter Masonic Lodge F&AM #137 in Valparaiso.

On June 27, 1959 he married Barbara Blastick, who survives along with their daughters: Kathy (Glenn) Martin and Joanne (Kim) Marshall, both of Valparaiso; sister, Judy Hood of Sun City, AZ; brothers: Robin "Squeak" (Toni) Hood of Wheatfield and Tom (Toni) Hood of Lebanon, IN; and grandchildren: Joshua Martin of Indianapolis and Megan (Mark) Miller of Albion, IN.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso with Rev. Harold James officiating with cremation to follow at Angelcrest Crematory. Visitation on Monday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with a public Masonic service to be held at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Salem Methodist Church or the VNA of Porter County. MoellerFuneralHome.com
