William Robert (Bob) Brant - Class Of 1950

OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, OCTOBER 31, 2008:

William Robert "Bob" Brant, age 76, of Hobart, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at Whispering Pines Health Care in Valparaiso after a 7-year battle with Alzheimers Disease. Bob served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from US Steel after 41 years of service as a Motor Tender in the Power/Fuel Department. He was a trustee for many years at Resurrection Lutheran Church and a member of the dartball team. Bob was an avid Hobart "Brickie" football fan. He also enjoyed gardening, tole painting and woodcarving.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Thasia; 3 daughters, Karen (Phil) Glovier, Brownsburg, IN, Lynda (Rick) Johnson of Midlothian, TX, Debbie Brant of Zionsville, IN; son, Will Brant of Chicago, IL; 5 grandchildren: Amy Glovier of Golden, CO; Renae (Tom) Burks of Camby, IN; Adam, Amanda & Megan Johnson of Midlothian, TX; 3 brothers: Donald (Shirley) Brant of Valparaiso, IN, Leon (Collette) Brant of Lake Station, IN, Jerry (Karen) Brant of LaPorte, IN; sister, Sharon (Bill) Fekete of Portage, IN; brother-in-law, Eldon Proctor of Bainbridge, IN, nieces, nephews, aunts & uncles, longtime friends, Frank & Beverly Platusic and family. He was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Brant, parents, Helen Brant, Elmer Brant, Lorraine Brant Wilson, stepfather, William Wilson, sister, Virginia Proctor and nephew, Gregory Brant.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred either to Resurrection Lutheran Church or TIMBRE unit at Whispering Pines Health Care. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 3, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 8061 Lincoln Highway, Crown Point (corner of Randolph St. & Route 30), with Rev. Robert Breitbarth officiating. Bob will be taken to church Monday morning for visitation from 9-11 a.m. preceding the service. Cremation will follow the funeral service.
