OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES, DECEMBER 30, 2012:

Joy C. Kowal, age 64, of Portage, passed away December 27, 2012. She was born June 23, 1948 in Dyersburg, TN to William and Martha (Fielding) Hampton. On December 21, 1987, Joy married Phillip Kowal who survives of Portage.

She is also survived by her father, William Hampton of Valparaiso; sons: Tony (Shirley) Seat of Lake Station and Tim Seat of CA; daughters: Tammy Kowal of Valparaiso and Valerie Kowal of Fort Worth, TX; brother, William (Carlene) Hampton of Valparaiso; sister, Theresa (John) Roperti of Lancaster, PA; grandchildren: Tyler, Kaylee, and Spencer; nephew, Tony; and nieces: Nicole, Natalie, Britney, Sandy, Kelly, and Alexandria. She was preceded in death by her mother, Martha; and daughter, Tammy Lynn Seat. Joy was a homemaker and a member of American Legion 260 Ladies Auxiliary.
