Ray Kanzler

Ray Kanzler, late of Hammond IN, passed away May 22, 2024 at age 89. from complications of dementia. He is survived by loving wife Nancy (Hensley), sons David (Ellie), Jeff (Lori), and George Kanzler; daughter Shirlene (Penny) Jones; sister Shirley Kanzler; stepsons Ted (late Coleen) and Glenn (ex-Kathy Denton) Wnorowski; Nieces Virginia (Jerry) Nelson, Veronica Gomez, and Celeste Wigsmoen; grandkids, step-grandkids, and step-great-grandkids.

Preceded in death by sister Doris Centracchio and brother Robert. 

Visitation will be at Acevez Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 29, from 3-7 pm. Location: 4404 Cameron Ave., Hammond, IN. There is a separate parking lot and all rooms are on one floor for easier access. Cremation to follow.

Ray was a maintenance mechanic at Purdue Calumet for many years, and after retirement, was a furniture/bike assembler at Walmart on Cabela Drive in Hammond. He was outgoing, easy to talk to, a problem solver, and loved by all who knew him. He will be dearly missed. 
Contributions can be made to St. Stanislaus Church, 808 W. 150th St., East Chicago IN or to Merrillville Care Center, 8800 Virginia Place, 46410, specifically for activities for the Alzheimer's Unit patients.
