Emil Kohut - Class Of 1970

OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES, JANUARY 5, 2014:

Emil F. Kohut, Jr., age 61, of Portage, passed away Monday, December 30, 2013. Survived by his loving wife, Sherry (nee Woolsey) of 15 years; mother, Mildred Pogo of Hobart; godfather, Jerome (Nancy) Rebar of Hobart; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Robert and Mabel Woolsey of Dale, IN. Preceded in death by father, Emil F. Kohut, Sr.; and grandparents: George and Julia Rebar.
 
Emil attended Hobart and Boone Grove High Schools and then entered the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he served 10 years of duty to his country. He was a former employee at RCA, Wunder Company, Gary Works, U.S. Steel, and for the U.S. Post Office. Emil was also a longtime member of American Legion Post 100 out of Lake Station.
 
Family and friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service (2700 Willowcreek Road, Portage) on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. A memorial service will promptly follow at 7:00 P.M. from the Pruzin Brothers Chapel and then American Legion Post 100 will perform military honors. Emil was laid to rest at Selvin Cemetery in Selvin, IN on January 1, 2014. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
