OBITUARY FROM SEYMOUR (INDIANA) TRIBUNE, MARCH 1, 2013:

Thomas E. Burke, 73, North Vernon, passed away at 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2013, at his residence. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1959. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Dove-Sharp and Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Cemetery in Anderson. Visitation will be from noon until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.Memorials may be given through the funeral home to American Diabetes Association.

North Vernon – Thomas E. Burke, 73, of North Vernon passed away at 9a.m. Feb. 27, 2013 at his residence.
Burke was born on June 23, 1939 in Gary, Ind., the son of Edmond and Elizabeth (Bright) Burke. He married Janice Williams on Dec. 5, 1959, in Hobart, Ind.

She preceded him in death on April 26, 2005.

Burke was a 1957 graduate from Hobart, Ind. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1959. He worked for Delco Remy in Anderson as a line supervisor for 25 years, retiring in 1995.

Burke was a member of the United Auto Workers. He enjoyed chopping wood, playing cards and word puzzles.

Burke is survived by his mother, Elizabeth (Bright) Burke of Tampa Fla.; one son, Thomas Burke of Anderson, one daughter, Kelli (Bill) Arnold of Anderson; one sister, Kay (Gary) Griffith of Tampa, Fla.; two grandchildren, Katrina and William Arnold, both of Anderson; two great-grandchildren, Zoey and Jayden Lines, both of Anderson.

Burke was preceded in death by his wife, Janice (Williams) Burke and his father, Edmond Burke.

The funeral will be at 2pm. Saturday, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Calling hours will be from noon until service time on Saturday. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Cemetery in Anderson.
