Leona Niksch (Carpenter) - Class Of 1925

OBITUARY FROM THE POST-TRIBUNE, NOVEMBER 19, 2006:
 
LEONA J. CARPENTER Hobart, IN Age 98, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2006. Leona was born Dec. 28, 1907 to Edward & Tillie (nee Harms) Niksch in Hobart, IN. Leona had been a lifelong Hobart resident & a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a loving wife & mother & was active as a den mother for Cub Scout Troop 65 of Hobart. Leona was active in the Republican Party of Hobart & served as a precinct committeeman.
 
Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford in 1975, 2 brothers, Donald & Laverne Niksch. She is survived by 5 children, Linda (Kenneth) Brynn of Merrillville, David Carpenter of Hobart, Elaine (Norman) Graden of Valparaso, Carol (Fred) Haddad of Henderson, NV, Wayne (Janet) Carpenter of Chesterton; 6 grandchildren, Lori (Joel) Mauk, Kevin Brynn, Brent (Joanna) Graden, Scott Graden, Kyle Graden, Mayalee Carpenter; 7 great grandchildren, Stephanie, Meghan, Samuel, Alex, Henry, Harrison & Harper; 1 brother, Edward (Carol) Niksch of CA; 2 sisters-in-law, Ruth Niksch of Hobart, Ella Carpenter of Valparaiso.
 
Funeral services Tuesday, November 21, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 900 Luther Dr, Hobart with Rev. Gary S. Nagy officiating. Burial Evergreen Memorial Park, Hobart, IN. Visitation Monday, November 20, 2006 from 2-7 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd, Hobart. www.reesfuneralhomes.com
