Richard M. Adams, a scientist on the atomic bomb project, died in Laramie, Wyo., Oct. 10, 2010. He was 93. Richard "Dick" Adams, was born Nov. 1, 1916 in Gary IN, to Freda and Melvern Adams. He married Marjorie Ann Albright in Chicago in 1944, where they lived until 1993. Adams received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Chicago and a PhD from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He authored 16 publications. Adams worked with such scientists as Enrico Fermi on the first nuclear reactor and the project to develop the first atomic bomb. He worked for Argonne National Laboratory until 1984, rising to become an assistant director. Richard Adams is survived by his children, Tori Adams of Rawlins, and Richard Merritt Adams and his wife, Andi Berry, of Laramie. Cremation has taken place and a private memorial is planned in Wyoming.
