George W. Fraser, age 93 of Hobart, IN, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2005, at the St. Vincent Hospital in Frankfort, IN.

George was born in Tipton, Michigan on November 3, 1911, to Albert and Jessie (Billington) Fraser. George was retired from Standard Oil Company having worked in engineering and marine transportation. George was a lifelong area resident and member of the First United Methodist Church of Hobart. George is recognized as the first Eagle Scout in the area an was a Scout Master for many years. He served on the Hobart School Board. George was a former member of the Purdue Marching Band and Orchestra.

George is preceded in death by his loving wife, Wava Byerly Fraser in 1984. George is survived by: his son, Ronald (Sue) Fraser of Hobart, IN; his granddaughter, Jennifer (David) Tips of Marblehead, MA; his great-granddaughter, Claire Elizabeth Tips; his brother, Dr. John (Ruth) Fraser of Wilmington, NC.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2005, 10 am at the First United Methodist Church of Hobart, 654 East 4th Street, Hobart, IN, with Rev.Larry K. Whitehead officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso,IN. Friends may call on Tuesday from 2 to 9 pm at the Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road in Hobart, IN.

Memorial contributions are requested to either the Boy Scouts of America or the First United Methodist Church in Hobart in George's memory.
