OBITUARY FROM THE NW INDIANA TIMES, SEPTEMBER 23, 1998:

Mary M. Allen (nee Souder), 86, a longtime Hobart resident and winter resident of Lantana, Florida, passed away in St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart on Monday, September 21, 1998. Mary was born in Columbia City, Indiana on September 22, 1911. She was a graduate of Hobart High School, class of 1929. She was a former employee of American Bridge Co., Gary, and member of First United MeUnited Methodist Church, Hobart. She was an avid bridge player with the "Girls" in Hobart.

Survived by husband of 62 years "E" Easterling M. Allen of Hobart; three children, Robert J. (Zeta) Allen of Hobart, Bruce B. (Shirley) Allen of Lake Clarke, Shores, FL and Donna Allen Monfort of Champaign, IL; one sister, Helen Reeder of Hobart; seven grandchildren, Andy, Eric and Stuart Allen, Mindy and Renee Monfort, Russell and Marnie Allen; ten great grandchildren; nieces, Cheryl Bowman of Hobart, Nancy Flick of Hobart, Joan Anderson Hays and Judy Anderson, both formerly of Hobart; numerous other nieces and nephews and cousin, Dr. Robert Meiser of Huntington, IN.

Funeral services Thursday, September 24, 1998 at 10 a.m. in the Burns Funeral Home, Hobart, (corner of Rt 51 and 7th Street), Rev. Larry K. Whitehead officiating. Interment at Evergreen Memorial Park, Hobart. Contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Hobart. Friends may call at the Burns Funeral Home (Hobart) on Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m.
