Sandra Jo Longfellow, age 84, of Mauston, Wisconsin, formerly of DeMotte, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at home.

On December 2, 1938 in Gary, Indiana, Sandra was born to Clarence and Mary (Felton) King. She graduated from Hobart High School, Class of 1957. Sandra married John Lee Longfellow on August 29, 1980 in Portage, Indiana. He preceded her in death on October 15, 2016. She worked as an administrative assistant for U.S. Steel in Gary for 42 years before she retired.

Sandra was a former member of the Kniman United Methodist Church. She enjoyed golfing and traveling after she and John retired. She was loved by many and was considered a “best friend” to many of her friends. Sandra had a loving & giving spirit and an infectious smile that endeared her to others.

Sandra is survived by her loving children: Darren (Sandy) Higgins of Waxhaw, NC; Teresa Higgins of Mauston, WI; Gary (Julie) Higgins of DeMotte, IN; step-children: Michael (Kim) Longfellow, Lori Ann (George) Wright, David (Christen) Longfellow, Jennifer (Ronald) Chapman; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and sister, Deloris Yavor of Portage.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and step-son, John L. Longfellow Jr.

Friends and family may gather at Jackson Funeral Service of DeMotte on Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 12:00 until 2:00 PM. A funeral service will promptly follow at Jackson Funeral Service on Saturday at 2:00 PM with Pastor Gaylynn Dykman officiating. Interment will be held at DeMotte Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Sandra’s name to United Methodist Church of Kniman or DeMotte.
