Vincent Boyd - Class Of 1937

OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, DECEMBER 7, 2006:
 
VINCENT R. BOYD, JR. "Bud" Hobart, Indiana Age 88, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2006. Doc, Bud & Bill Boyd, along with their sons and grandsons have owned and operated Boyd Construction Co., Inc. in Hobart since 1911. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hobart. During World War II, he aided the cause by operating a crane for the United States Army. He was Past President of Fraternal Order of Police, Hobart Lodge, he was a former volunteer fireman with the Hobart Fire Department. Bud was the Grand Marshal at the Hobart 4th of July Parade in Hobart. He received the Half Century Award for Longevity and was a past recipient of the Businessman of the Year Award for the Hobart Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and loved watching people fish on the pier he constructed off of 3rd Street in Hobart.
 
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Boyd in 1997, and his parents, Vincent "Doc" and Martha Boyd, and his sisters, Mary Sable and Rhoda Rowley. He is survived by 2 sons: Richard A. (Joan) Boyd, Robert W. (Cindy) Boyd, both of Hobart; 1 daughter: Judy K. Jensen of Dunedin, FL; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 brother: William (Pat) Boyd, of Hobart; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2006, 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 900 Luther Drive, Hobart, IN, Rev. Gary Nagy officiating. Interment Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Hobart. Friends may visit with the family at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th Street, Hobart, IN on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, the American Diabetes Association or to Phi Beta Sorority Cancer Research Fund.
