Luther Howell - Class Of 1938

INFORMATION PROVIDED BY JENNIFER DAVIS EASTWOOD, CLASS OF 1962:

Luther Lewis Howell "Boots", 81, of Hobart, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 1999. He was born in North Liberty, Indiana, and has been a Hobart resident most of his life. He graduated from Hobart High School in the class of 1938 and played the Sousaphone in the band under the direction of Revelli. He married Kathryne Matfiak April 25, 1942. Luther was a retired supervisor for Youngstown Sheet and Tube with 36 years of service. After his retirement, Luther and Kathryne worked as a decorating team known as "Home Beautiful by Howells". He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Calumet Old Timers' Club and LTV Bowling and Golf Leagues.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Kathryne; three daughters: Linda (Michael) Roque, Karen (Norbert) Matulis and Diane (Robert) Misner; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother, Wilbur (Yvonne) Howell and one sister, Marleen (Don) Kopach. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Florentine Howell.

Funeral services are Friday, October 22, 1999, 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 900 Luther Drive, Hobart, IN, Rev. Gary Nagy officiating. Burial at Calumet Park Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, IN.
