Robert (Bob) Lautzenhiser - Class Of 1942

Robert Lautzenhiser, 86 of Princeton died Dec. 22, 2010, at Colonial Rehab and Nursing Center, Princeton. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Norberg Memorial Home, Princeton. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Princeton. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Mr. Lautzenhiser was born Feb 24, 1924, in Manchester, Ind., to Rufle and Lucille (Mollenhour) Lautzenhiser. He married Noreen (Dwyer) Dec. 13, 1952, in St. Mary’s Church, Wayne, Mich.

He graduated from Hobart High School in 1942 and Purdue University in 1949. He was a member of the Navy Reserve during World War II and enlisted in the Army 1943-1945 He attended officer training school and was an officer 1945-1946.

He worked at US Steel from June 1949 until retiring in April 1983. He was a member of Bureau County chapter American Red Cross, Princeton Optimist Club, Princeton Elks Club, Gold Coats at Perry Memorial Hospital and American Legion. He did volunteer work for organizations including Bureau County Senior Center and Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging.

He is survived by three children, Kathy (Lynn) Hultine of Princeton, Mary Ann (Geoff Elliott) Lautzenhiser of Iowa and Robert Lautzenhiser of Georgia; six grandchildren, Sarah (David) Massengale; Ellen (Jeff) Day, Evan Hultine, Stephen and Rosemary Elliott and Hannah Lautzenhiser; three great-grandchildren, Gage, Kait and Ian Day. He is preceded in death by his wife in 1987; and one brother Junior Lautzenhiser in 2001.
