OBITUARY FROM THE GARY POST-TRIBUNE, SEPTEMBER 1963:
OWENS, RUTH ---Age 38, of 2565 Morgan Street, East Gary, formerly a resident of Hobart for 24 years and East Gary for 14 years, passed away at the Mercy Hospital, Tuesday, September 17, 1963, after a long illness. She was a member of the Ladies Sodality of St. Francis Xavier Church, and the Home and School Guild.
Survivors: Husband, Howard; 2 sons, Thomas and Joseph, at home; 3 brothers, Richard Schiess, of Gary, George Schiess of Forest Park, Illinois and James Schiess of East Gary; one sister, Mrs. Eileen Walters, of Portage.
Rosary will be said Thursday evening at 8 p.m. at the Olson and Reiser East Gary chapel.The funeral will be Friday, Sept. 20, 9 a.m. at the chapel and 9:30 at St. Francis Xavier Church, Rev. Clemens L. Koors, officiating. Burial at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call after 5 p.m. this evening and until time of service.
