Charles was born in Kankakee on Nov. 4, 1927 to Arthur Johnson and Dayle Reynolds. He graduated from Hobart High School in Hobart, IN. in 1946 then attended a year of college in the USAF in Anchorage, Alaska where he was stationed while in the Army. Charles married Lorraine Bancroft on Nov. 5, 1950 at the First Baptist Church. He is a current member of the River Valley Christian Fellowship, Golden Agers, and Young at Heart Sunday School. Charles was a deacon at the First Baptist Church of Kankakee and taught senior high Sunday School. He was both president and vice president of the travel clubs; Good Sam's, Holiday Ramblers, and Family Motor Coach. He and his wife love to travel and visited fourteen different countries and spent the last twenty one winters at their condo in Clearwater, FL. Charles spent 30 years as a union painter at Manteno State Hospital and also was a real estate, securities and insurance salesman for many companies. Charles also owned and operated the Palace Roller Skating Rink on River St. from 1947-1950. He was a republican Committeeman for 20 years in Aroma Township. Charles was a member of the Johnson Family Singers. He was an exellent roller skater and taught Roller Skating. He loved playing games with his family and friends and loved his family very much.

Charles is survived by his wife, three daughters; Linda Lee (Raymond) Brown of Fenton, Michigan, Lana C. (David) Bruce of Lequey, Missouri, and Lesa K. (Carl) Hays of Bourbonnais, a sister Eva Rae Dietrich of Kankakee, a brother Austin E. (Nancy) Johnson of Kankakee, 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
