Laura Marie Swanson, 85, of Valparaiso, IN formerly of Monticello, IN, passed away Friday, July 6, 2012 at the VNA Hospice Center.
She was born May 16, 1927 in Hobart to Robert & Fleeta (Erwin) Woods.
On April 11, 1947 she married Glen Swanson who preceded her in death on March 11, 2011. Survivors include their children: Steven H. (Jacqueline) Swanson of LaPorte, Debra L. (David) Christy of Valparaiso, Diane M. (Robert) Lane of Monticello, sister, Catherine (Merrill) Sorrick of Merrillville, brother, Bill (Dottie) Woods of Hobart, sisters-in-law: Lorraine Donley of Chesterton & Norma Swanson of Crown Point, brother-in-law, Leo Swanson of Norfolk, VA, grandchildren: Tammy (Michael) Micciche, Dr. Lisa (Ryan) Booth, Eric (Melissa) Christy, Nicholas (Allison) Swanson, Joshua (Amanda) Lane, Rob Lane, Jonathon Lane & Derek Lane, and 13 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers: Harold & Erwin Woods.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday 2:00 pm at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, Chaplain Craig Forwalter officiating with burial to follow at Angelcrest Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday from 12 noon – 2 pm. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Riley Hospital for Children.
