Raymond G. Shearer, age 75, formerly of Lake Station, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2007. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, Korean Conflict and was awarded the Purple Heart. Ray was the former owner of the Country Store and was a member of Pheasant Valley Golf Club. He was also an avid bowler and fisherman.

Ray is survived by his wife Joanna Shearer of Hobart, IN; sons: John C. (Lorraine) Shearer of Hobart and James T. Shearer of Manteno, IL; daughter Amy Jo Shearer of Baltimore, MD; two grandchildren Ashley and Brittany Shearer; brothers: Bob (Virginia) of Gatlinburg, TN, David (Karen) of Mishawaka and Jerry Shearer of Flint, MI; sister Betty (Craig) Downey of Melbourne, FL; sister-in-law Janice Shearer of Harrisburg, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Minnie Shearer; brother Don and sister Norma Herron.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th Street, Hobart, IN with Rev. John Starr officiating. Interment at Blachly Cemetery, Valparaiso. Friends may meet with the family on Friday, September 7, 2007 from 2-8 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, Hobart.
