Marilynn Graebner, age 92, was born in Gary, Indiana on October 4, 1923. She died in Delaware, Ohio on June 4, 2016. Marilynn grew up in Hobart, Indiana and attended Purdue University. She graduated in 1944 with a BA in Home Economics. She worked for Stouffers Restaurants which eventually brought her to the Cleveland area where she met Herman, her husband of 63 years. They were married in 1948.

After moving to several different Midwest locations while raising their three daughters, Marilynn and Herm returned to Ohio and settled in Medina in 1973. During her 40 years of residency in Medina, Marilynn has blessed the community with her talents and hard work in many ways. She formed the Gazebo-Kazoobo Band, a neighborhood band that performed in the Medina gazebo for seven years and in local parades. She was one of the founders of the Medina Show Biz Co. and served as a producer, writer, director, lyric writer, performer and “idea-woman” for many years. In 1977 she was asked to serve as the dance director and choreographer for the Medina County Annual Young Women’s Leadership Charity Ball and she faithfully served in that role for 28 years, never missing a rehearsal or event. Her love for dancing inspired her to start the Disco Beat Dance Studio and along with her husband Herman taught disco dancing to over 2400 people in Medina County. Marilynn was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church serving on the alter guild, and as a Stephen Minister and as a Eucharistic Minister for the congregation. She served as treasurer for the Medina County Chamber of Commerce. In 1993 Marilynn was invited to join P.E.O. Sisterhood and served actively on both the local and state level for over 15 years. Marilynn was honored for her community service as a 2004 recipient of the Medina County Women of Distinction Award, and honorable mention by the Medina County Gazette Mother-of-the-Year recognition. In 2014 Marilynn relocated to Willow Brook Delaware Run, a Christian retirement facility in Delaware, Ohio and promptly organized a Kazoo band and dominoes group and helped produce two variety shows.
