Wilma L. Gawthrop (nee Morgan) lived a long life of 100 years and witnessed generations grow in the city of Hobart, Indiana. She married Albert L.Gawthrop in 1947 and spent her life with him until his death in 2007. Wilma passed peacefully on the afternoon of July 1st, 2024. She was a woman who held her faith strong and sought to improve the lives of others through service and devotion. She kept watch of her grandchildren Jodie and Patrick through college.
She is survived by her daughter and son, Jody Gawthrop (Hobart, IN) and Keirn (Julie) Gawthrop (Westfield, IN); brother, William Morgan, and dearest forever friend, Ruth Throne. Preceded by her parents Delmar and Vallona Morgan, her siblings Wayne Morgan, Mildred Morgan, Hazel Needham, and Robert Morgan, sisters-in-law, Betty Morgan, Jeanne Morgan, and Maureen Morgan, and brother-in-law, James Needham. Dear niece, Shirley Boezeman, who brightened all her days with fun, laughter, Scrabble, and Rigby. Many other loving nieces and nephews. She is now reunited with those she loved.
A celebratory luncheon and memorial service will be held in honor of Wilma’s birthday, life, and legacy on August 11, 2024, 1-4 PM CST. Memorial service at 2 PM with Reverend Leah Peksenak of Hobart First United Methodist Church, commencing at Hobart Community Center, 111 E. Old Ridge Rd, Hobart, IN. We welcome family and friends to join us at any time. Wilma loved a good gathering until her very last days!
