Thomas E. Allen, age 86 of Portage, IN passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017 in Valparaiso, IN. He was born on December 12, 1930 in Gary, IN to Harry and Margaret (Haviland) Allen.

He is survived by his son, Steve (Brenda) Coutouzis of TX, daughter, Sherri (Dana) Johnson of Westville; brother, John Allen; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joan and granddaughter Paige.
Tom was a U.S. Army and Air Force Veteran. He retired from U.S. Steel as an electrician and was a first class carpenter. He was a member of the American Legion Post 260 and VFW in Portage. He enjoyed golfing and adored his dog Shadow. He was a loving father and grandfather.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 1:30 pm at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, IN 46368 with Pastor Duane Schmidt officiating. Interment of cremains will follow at McCool Cemetery, Portage, IN. Memorial visitation will take place on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the time of service.
