Netta L. Downey, 93 of LaCrosse, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2023.  She was born May 30, 1930 in Hobart, IN to William M. and Emma Eunice (Wells) Kanost.  A member of Central Christian Church, Netta was known for her fantastic baking of cakes, pies, cookies, and more.  She truly was the most caring and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  Netta will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

Netta is survived by her children, Barb (Scott) McGee-Pontbriand, Teresa Smetzer, and Philip Sears; grandchildren, Christina, Carrie, Leah, Bridget (Lauren), Aisling, Hunter, and Sebastian; great grandchildren, Christian, Jordan, Callista, Deklin, Kyndric, and Kyngston; sister-in-law, Jean Kanost; niece, Janis; and nephew, William.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, William, and sister, Donna.

A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a Memorial Service beginning at 12:00 PM.  Interment of ashes will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.
