Theresa (Tess) Brazauskas (Brazauski) (Bartos) - Class Of 1945

OBITUARY INFORMATION FROM GEISEN FUNERAL HOME (CROWN POINT, IN) WEBSITE:

Theresa Patricia Bartos (nee Brazauskas), age 97, of Crown Point, IN, formerly of Merrillville, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2026.

Theresa is survived by her 3 children: John D. (Diana) Bartos, Jr., Michael (late Nancy) Bartos, and Kimberly (James) Larsen; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and her many loving nieces and nephews.

Theresa was preceded in death by her husband John Bartos, Sr.; parents, Simon & Anna Brazauskas; sisters, Stella Noak and Adele Brazauskas; brothers, Bruno Brazauskas and Albert Brazauskas.

Theresa was raised in Gary and Hobart, where she graduated from Hobart High School in 1945. She was a retired shipping expediter from LTV Steel, with 25 years of service. She was also a longtime and faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

Theresa volunteered many selfless hours at St. Anthony Medical Center for over 20 years. In addition, she was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #289.

Theresa enjoyed doing crossword puzzles every day, and reading one book per week. Her greatest joy was spending time at family dinners, and parties with all of her family.,

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN 46307 from 8:30 to 9:30 am, with Funeral prayers said at 9:30.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Mary Catholic Church on Friday, January 30 at 10 am, with Rev. Peter Muha officiating. Cremation will follow, and Theresa will later be laid to rest at Memory Lane Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Theresa's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
