Age 83, of Lake Station, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart. Irene was lifelong area resident and member of Assumption BVM Catholic Church in New Chicago. She was a member of American Legion Post Kosciuszko #207 Ladies Auxiliary and Polish National Alliance "Silver Bell" Society, Lodge #2365, Council 127, District XV.

She is survived by her sons, Michael (Karen) Jankowicz and Richard (Deborah) Jankowicz her daughters, Karen (Michael) McIntire Mary Jo (Mitchell) Frankowski 8 grandchildren, Monica (Rob) Ray of Portage, Jennifer Frankowski (fiance, Todd Huff) Karissa (Aaron) Raderstorf Matt Frankowski (fiance, Jennifer Grady) Katie Jankowicz Ben Frankowski and Mike and Kelley Jankowicz great-grandchildren, MacKenzie and Logan Ray brothers, Chester (Alice) Krawczyk Walter (Marlene) Krawczyk sisters, Bernice (Leonard) Tomasewski Lottie Kupiec.

Her husband, Michael A. "Archie" (Jankovich) Jankowicz; brother, Ted Krawczyk; sister, Genevieve Kapica; and granddaughter, Amy McIntire, preceded her in death.

Funeral Services will be Monday, May 3, 2010 beginning with 9:30 a.m. Prayers at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W Old Ridge Rd., and then proceeding to Assumption BVM Catholic Church for the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. with Rev. Lourdu Pasala celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Portage. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-8 p.m. with a 3:00 p.m. Prayer Service at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 219-942-2109, or online at
