Norman was born in Granite City IL, son of the late Emile H. and Anna (Eckert) Christiansen.

He is predeceased by his first wife, Margaret A. Christiansen; second wife, Frances H. (Blonk) Christiansen; brother, Wilbert Christiansen; sisters, Edna Mae Christiansen and Barbara Stoner. Norman is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Karen A. and Edward Young of Live Oak FL; son, Raymond J. Christiansen of Logan UT; grandchildren, Dominic Forte of Orlando FL, Margaret (Joseph) Sanfelippo of Las Vegas NV and Jennifer (Donald) Miller of Cincinnati OH; sister, Patricia (Howard) Ewen of Lacrosse IN; brother-in-law, Raymond Stoner of East Rochester NY; several nieces and nephews.

Norman was a US Army veteran of WW II. He served in the campaigns of Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was wounded twice and was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart with 1 bronze oak leaf cluster, and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 3 bronze service stars. Norman retired as a design draftsman from American Bridge with nearly 35 years of service. He was a longtime member of Bethany Lutheran Church and a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, Elmira. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Woodlawn National Cemetery. Donations in Norman's memory may be directed to Bethany Lutheran Church, 256 South Walnut St., Elmira NY 14904.
