OBITUARY FROM GEISEN FUNERAL HOME (MERRILLVILLE) WEBSITE:

John Andros, age 86 of Merrillville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Wednesday, January 28, 2009. John was the retired owner/operator of Village Key Shop in the Village Shopping Center. He formerly worked at the Budd Plant and Taylor Forge. John was a member of the Lake County Sheriff's Auxiliary, Roosevelt Masonic Lodge #716 F.&A.M., Scottish Rite of South Bend and Orak Shrine of Michigan City. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a lifetime member of the VFW #1563 Merrillville Post.

John was preceded in death by parents, Peter & Marie Andros; sisters and brothers: Leona Petros, Dena Polites, James Andros, Kaliroy Petruska and William Andros. John is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary nee Chakos ; son, Nick Andros; brother, George Joyce Andros all of Merrillville; in-laws: Mary S. Andros, Helen Andros, Ed Gottschling, Tom J. and Mary Chakos, and Christina J. Chakos; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 2, 2009 at 11:00 AM directly at Ss. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 8000 Madison St., Merrillville, Rev. Theodore Poteres officiating. Interment to follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Gary. Friends may visit with the family Sunday, February 1st from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Geisen Funeral Home, 7905 Broadway, Merrillville. A Trisagion Prayer Service will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM followed by a Masonic service at 2:15 PM. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of John Andros may be made to Ss.
