STANLEY BONCZEK, age 89, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; formerly of Hobart and Hebron, Indiana, passed away quietly at home after an extended illness on Sunday, December 27, 2009.

He was born on December 6, 1920 in Gary, IN the son of Leopold and Roszalja Bonczek.
He married Adeline M. Easterlin on February 14, 1942.

A veteran of World War II, Stanley served with the US Army Air Corps' 20th Air Depot Repair Squadron in North Africa and Italy. After the war, Stanley returned to the Hobart, IN area where he and his loving wife raised their family. He retired in 1980 as General Yard Master with the E. J. & E. Railroad at U.S. Steel Gary Works, Gary, IN.

Stanley was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oak Ridge, TN, and a previous member of St. Helen's Catholic Church in Hebron, IN, a member of the Hobart Garden Club, and American Legion Post 54 of Hobart, IN. He was a model train, car and airplane enthusiast; and enjoyed the outdoors and scrap booking.

Stanley is survived by 2 sons: William (Marie) Bonczek of Fairport Harbor, OH and Richard (Kim) Bonczek of Oak Ridge, TN; 2 daughters: Rose (Roland) Wibbing of Carriere, MS and Dorothy (Robert) Wheeler of Crown Point, IN; 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Edward (LaDella) Bonczek of Medaryville, IN; and other loving family and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leopold and Roszalja Bonczek; wife, Adeline M. Bonczek; brother, Walter Bonczek; and sister, Helen E. Lewman.

The family would like to thank the caregiver services of Home Instead Senior Care of Knoxville, TN; and special friends, Linda Vorees, Maria Gee, and Jan Hicks of Oak Ridge, TN.

Visitation for Stanley will be Monday, January 4, 2010 from 2-7 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart, IN. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Helen's Catholic Church, 302 N. Madison, Hebron, IN, at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2010 with the Rev. Derrick F. Dudash officiating. Prior to the Mass, a visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 –10:00. A military burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso, IN.
